Wow, Flex Whey sure is a cheap whey isolate! How does it stand up though and is it worth going budget? Check out our full in-depth review below.
Flex Whey has an impressively short list of ingredients starting with its protein source which is a Whey Protein Isolate. This makes up the majority of the product with the next listed ingredient being Cocoa Powder for its chocolate flavor. A gum blend of Cellulose and Xanthan has been added as a thickener.
These are naturally derived and basically provide a creamy texture when mixed. Sea salt is added as a flavor enhancer. Stevia Extract is used as a natural sweetener and Sunflower lecithin is used to help the product quickly mix and dissolve into your beverage of choice.
This is a high-quality whey isolate that should be very effective.
Our only wish might be that it contained some digestive enzymes, but this isn’t essential.
We thought the chocolate was mild but pleasant and not too overly sweet. However, we have read a few customer reviews suggesting a slightly metallic taste. We didn’t notice this at all, so perhaps there is some flavor inconsistency between batches. We’re not sure, but for us, the flavor seems pretty good, though not exciting.
Mixing seemed to be quite good in both milk and water for us.
Flex Whey offers extremely good value, without any nasty ingredients we would normally want to avoid.
In fact, at the time of writing, this product listed in our top position for best budget protein. Its combination of high-quality isolate, minimal ingredients, and low cost makes it excellent value for money!
You would be hard-pressed to find a better whey protein isolate for the price of Flex Whey. This product combines a quality whey isolate without any nasty artificials or additives we would normally want to avoid. The flavor was pretty uninspiring, but not unpleasant and we tend to tweak our shakes to our own tastes anyway. For us, this is the best budget-priced protein isolate we have reviewed to date.
