Ingredients
Nutricost delivers 25 grams of protein in a 34.3gram serve with 3 grams of carbs and 3 grams of fat. Protein is delivered with a simple Whey Concentrate which is what you would expect from a budget protein. Unfortunately, while concentrates are high in lactose, this product doesn’t include the enzyme lactase which is often used with concentrates to help digest that lactose content. So this is not a good choice if you are at all lactose intolerant.
To create their chocolate taste they have used Cocoa Powder, Natural and Artificial Flavor and Salt as a flavor enhancer. This products only remaining ingredients are Acesulfame Potassium and Sucralose. These certainly are not our favorite ingredients, but artificial ingredients are not unexpected in such an inexpensive product.

Effectiveness
While this product contains a less pure whey protein concentrate, its minimal ingredient list means that you get a 72.8% protein content, which is not bad at all. Our main concern is the lack of lactase which is an enzyme usually added with whey concentrates to help break down the higher lactose of concentrates. So this is not going to be a particularly effective product if you have any lactose intolerance. For the rest of us, this product offers a decent protein hit for the price.
RECOMMENDED USE
Manufacturers Directions
Recommended Use: Blend 1-2 scoops with 6-10 ounces of cold water, milk or your favorite beverage.
Taste, Texture & Mixability
This proteins chocolate taste is mild and a little uninspiring to be honest, but not by any means unpleasant. It mixed well in both milk and water without clumping. This was surprising given there is no added Lecithin in this product, which is usually added to help with mixability.

Value
This is the cheapest whey protein powder we have reviewed to date, however, it does contain a less pure whey protein concentrate. However, if you’re on a budget and don’t mind artificial sweeteners then Nutricost offers excellent value.

Conclusion
This product best suits those on a tight budget, but it does offer a decent protein hit with mild but decent flavors and represents excellent value. However, if all-natural ingredients are important to you or you are lactose intolerant, then you may want to give this product a miss.
