Is Whey Protein Powder bad for you?
No, whey protein powder is not bad for you, in fact quite the opposite and have a great many health benefits including muscle development and weight loss. Whey protein is considered the benchmark for all other protein powders, because it provides the most densely packed complete amino acid profile that is rapidly digested and ranked as the most bioavailable source of protein. Whey protein powder has other beneficial effects such as lowering blood pressure and bad cholesterol.
When used correctly, you should not experience any unwanted side effects. Side effects generally only occur under certain circumstances such as overuse which can cause constipation, dehydration and headaches. Whey protein can also cause problems for those whom have a pre-existing condition effecting the kidneys or liver, but it’s not harmful for otherwise healthy people.
The only other situation where whey protein can cause distress, is for those with lactose intolerance. However this should only occur if you consume “whey concentrate” which is still high in lactose. Other forms of whey such as isolates and hydrolysates should be free from any lactose.
