Is Soy Protein Powder easy to digest?
Soy protein powder is digested at a rate of about 3.9 grams per hour in tests. This would allow around 11.7 grams of protein to digest over a 3 hour period. While this is not as high as whey protein at 8 grams per hour, it is notably one of the highest rates compared with most other plant-based protein sources. Soy protein powder does contain lectin and protease inhibitors that can slow digestion somewhat.
In terms of digestive issues, very few people have trouble digesting soy and it generally provides a hypoallergenic option for those with intolerance or allergies.
