Is Rice Protein Powder better than whey?
While rice is often considered for its carb content, surprisingly its one of the best sources of plant based protein when compared with whey. Rice protein has a bioavailability value of 83, which compares well with whey with a value of 100.
Rice protein also has a very good amino acid profile, but is lacking in a few. Notably these are Lysine, Threonine and Leucine. Fortunately pea protein powder and rice protein powder make great companions and together provide an excellent amino acid profile.
Rice is naturally cholesterol, fat and lactose free. Given its lack of lactose as with whey, it is far easier to digest for those who have difficulty digesting whey.
