EAS
100% Whey Protein
EAS is one of the more subtly marketed brands we have come across, though they have a huge line up of supplements available. Today we are looking at their 100% Whey product that certainly appears to be exceptionally cheap. Inexpensive often denotes low-value ingredients and inefficient protein content, but we will take a closer look and see if this is really the case.

Ingredients
Two scoops (43grams per serve) of EAS 100% Whey contains 30 grams of protein, 2.5 grams of fat and 6 grams of carbs.
The protein component of this product is Whey Protein Concentrate which is not exactly high tech and the cheapest and least pure form of whey used in protein supplements. This is likely why EAS can offer their product at such a good price. Many would avoid concentrates in favor of isolates due to the higher fat and carb content of concentrates. However interestingly this product is quite low in both fat and carbs. Concentrates also contain beneficial Phosopholipids and Conjugated Linoleic Acid which are no longer present in an isolate due to the filtering process.
Aside from the whey concentrate, this product is fairly lean with not too many ingredients. It contains Cocoa, Natural & Artificial Flavour and Salt. Soy Lecithin is added along with Carrageenan and Xanthan Gum as stabilizers. Acesulfame Potassium and Sucralose are added as sweeteners.
We have noted that the cholesterol level in this product is reasonably high at 100mg per serve. This is 33% of your daily recommended value. We can think of more exciting ways to use up our daily allowance of cholesterol but depending on your diet this may not be an issue.

Effectiveness
This is a budget option and while the included protein was found to be quite efficient with reasonably low levels of carbs and fat, it’s also the cheapest form of protein concentrate. For best results, a product with whey isolate as the main protein source offers better results.
RECOMMENDED USE
Manufacturers Directions
Take 1 serving (2 scoops) 30 minutes post-workout. Consume up to 3 servings daily depending on your protein needs. Combine 2 scoops with 8 fl oz of cold water, milk, or your favorite beverage and mix for 20-30 seconds in a shaker or blender. Use with a healthy diet and exercise program.
Taste, Texture & Mixability
We tried the Chocolate, but there really are not many flavors to choose from. EAS only makes Chocolate, Strawberry, and Vanilla. When mixed with milk the chocolate flavor was mild but pleasant without being too sweet, however, it was also unremarkable. In water it was a bit weak and while not totally unpleasant, we can think of far better tasting products if mixing with water is your aim.
Mixability with this product was excellent and took absolutely no time at all in milk or water! Mixing gave us a smooth texture with no clumps at all.

Value
EAS 100% Whey is excellent value, but you get what you pay for and the quality of the protein in this product is not great due to it’s only including whey protein concentrate.

Conclusion
This product is very cheap and largely this is due to the cheaper whey concentrate included as the protein component. Given its lower quality protein component, it performs better than we expected with quite low fat and carbs. If you’re looking for a budget option and don’t mind the few artificial additives, then this may be an option for you.
